Our Church
grows and builds
itself up in love,

as each part

does its work.

Ephesians 4:16
We'd like to welcome you to Gungahlin Community Baptist Church. Our prayer is that we'd become the most loving church in the world. We have ministries to men, women, kids, and young people. Our caring team would love to get to know you whether you've been a Christian for years, have just become one (wow!), or you're still trying to make sense of the whole God-thing.

JUNE IS MISSIONS MONTH!

Cambodia News Update! Tuesday, 12 May, 2009 2:01 AM

Dear Pastor Perkins and brethren at Gungahlin Community Baptist Church,

May this news update find you all enjoying the choicest of the Lord’s manifold blessings.

GBC - Anlong K'ngan celebrated its 7th Anniversary last April 26. Bro. Prak Kunthy, Associate Pastor at Russey Keo BBC was our special speaker. Our people were challenged from God's word about taking responsibility for the work the Lord has commissioned his people to do. Our theme was taken from John 9:4, "I must work the works of Him that sent me." 3 precious souls were saved, several commitments were made including one coming to present herself for baptism. We praise and thank the Lord for his many blessings upon Grace Baptist Church - Anlong K'ngan.

The Lord is indeed the One who adds to His church. We baptized 3 ladies on the first Sunday of May. Many times we lead people to the Lord who we think would become church members quite quickly. We try our best to work and follow up on them anticipating that they will be committed to the church and the Lord's work soon but not soon enough as we have projected. But at the same time, the Lord will bring other people to our ministries and we are just blessed to see them do what is right before the Lord. So let's just work and let the Lord add to His church!

Many of you would probably be reading this report as our Missions Conference is in progress. The conference is set this May 13-15 in the evenings. Our goal and desire is to see our people become more aware and meaningfully involved in reaching lost souls both in the homeland and overseas. While poverty and financial straits are indeed realistic obstacles, we want to drive home to the hearts of our people that these are also the very opportunities they have to prove the Lord’s faithfulness (II Cor. 8:2). Please pray for the Missions Conference to really stir our hearts to more compassion and action for World Missions! Please pray for our Cambodian national Pastors as they will be reporting on their respective ministries and at the same time doing most of the preaching.

We are in our last quarter of our school year both in our Academy and in the Bible College. This means that students are in a frantic mood in trying to complete school requirements and Teachers are in a much more frenzied atmosphere in beating deadlines as well. Please pray for us as we tackle the extra added challenge of coordinating program preparations and meetings during these coming weeks.

Simultaneously with all of these things going on, we are in the middle of improving the physical appearance of our facilities at GBC – Anlong K’ngan and the Power of Grace Children’s Home. While fatigue and body aches often accompany the conclusion of each passing day, boredom and idleness are eliminated when you have to be wearing different hats and do multi-tasking.

Thank you very much for your sustained support and fervent prayers for us and the ministry we do with the Cambodian people. We do sincerely appreciate all you do in helping us to remain in the field to reach more Khmers with the Gospel. May the Lord bless you abundantly.

Yours for Cambodian souls,

Mike Valdez & family
